I admire her fight so I’m getting involved!

Hello,

So here I am again blogging!

Lot’s of people want things, but do nothing to get what they want. I’ve never really understood it but I guess that’s the way some people are…

A few days ago I received a message from a friend of mine called Sirkka who REALLY wants something and she is doing all she can to get it. I admire her efforts and feel moved to do more than just give- I’ll use THIS BLOG to help.

I’ve leave you with her words…

Hi guys,

I really wanted to share my story and ask for your support (if possible) with everything that is happening.

So….I was recently offered a place at university in Ireland to study as a graduate. I was originally told by the university and the bank that I would be eligible to receive a tuition loan for my four years of study once I had been offered a place on the course. After paying nearly £300 for the entrance exams and applications I was offered a place on the 2nd of August 2012 (which I accepted). This dream was however cut-short by a change in bank policy, which was made nearly a week after I had accepted my offer and which now states that only Irish residents are eligible to receive a tuition loan. I have to raise £6000 in 3 weeks to pay the first half of my yearly tuition and am looking for anyone who might be able to help me, even if it is a small amount.

If you are able to help me you can go to www.youcaring.com and search ‘This is my dream.’ You should see my picture and my story.

I have attached a link below to help you find it.

Thank you in advance for all your support!

Sirkka

As you know I’m big on university (published my first book entitled, “What They Don’t Tell You about University”), so this story struck a chord in me.

NOT only has Sirkka set up the giving account above, but she’s set up a concert to raise money!

Here are her own words:

So…I am having a fundraiser on the 31st of August to help me raise some of the money I need to go to University. It will be at 7pm in Greenwich (Cutty Sark) and I would love to see you all there. It will be a live music and poetry event so expect to see all your favourite artists!

Expect the likes of…

*Midé*

*Chiedzalisa*

*Delicia Edgar*

*Veronica Lewis*

*Leine-Marie*

And more….

I am asking that you guys pay £5 to get in although if you would like to give more I would really appreciate that too.

(THE VENUE ADDRESS WILL BE POSTED SOON)

Keep an eye on the facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/events/408209622561601/?notif_t=plan_user_invited

Thank you all for your support in this.

Sirkka.

So, if like me you admire Sirkka’s efforts then please do what you can to help:

  • Give
  • Go to the concert
  • Re-blog this blog
  • Do all of the above!

Until next time.

I empower young adults to transition successfully from school to the real world. WHY? It's needed! Just remember what it was like for you. HOW? Through inspirational self-help books , story telling and impactful workshops, seminars and conferences. WHO AM I: I'm the person who sees a need and creates a practical solution to solve it. I'm the first one in my family to have gone to university and found the "school to university" transition tough. I did terribly in my first year. Yet through asking questions, learning the ropes and pure determination I went from a 3rd class degree to a 2:1. This inspired my first award winning book, "What They Don't Tell You about University", (which got published when I was at Law School). The sequel, "What They Don't Tell You When You Graduate" followed and is packed with crucial advice for the new graduate! I've given advice to the masses through The Telegraph, BBC radio and London Live. My speaking engagements range from educational institutions to corporates to government departments.
